According to iafrica:
Fire-fighters have been battling to contain a fire that started this afternoon at the popular Peddlars on the Bend restaurant/bar in Constantia, Cape Town.
One of the owners, Peter Fleck told iafrica.com that the fire started at around 3pm on Thursday afternoon.
“The fire started on the roof and the fire-fighters have been working tirelessly since then,” said Fleck. “The fire is not out yet, but it is under control.”
Luckily there were no casualties and the customers who were present at the time were all evacuated.
According to Fleck, the damage to the restaurant is estimated between R1/2-million but it still needs to be assessed properly.
Fleck went on to say that the restaurant would be closed “for a month or two”, and he urged Peddlars’ customers to bear with them during these trying times. He added that they would try to attend to the situation “as quickly as possible”.
No one has been arrested following the incident at this well-established southern suburbs ‘watering-hole’, and they do not want to speculate over the cause of the fire.
Looks like the famous landmark is still in tact.

Must be a tactful retaurant if it is still in tact. Let’s hope it remains intact as far as as far as the future is concerned…

Peddlars joke, a guy in his mid-20s goes to Peddlars to pick up on some cougar action at the bar. He eventually latches onto a woman in her early 40s, who says after a few drinks, “How would you like to come back to my place for a little bit of mother and daughter action?” Our guy thinks, he’s hit the jackpot, an attractive 40-year-old mother, daughter probably late teens or early 20s, what a win. They go back to her place open the front door and she yells upstairs, “Hey mom, come downstairs I found one for us!”

You could have asked before stealing my photos of the fire off facebook… or not even mentioning my name. Its just rude.
The fire was started because they put in a new fireplace and didnt seal off the roof properly so the flames and smoke went into the roof.
