THE BMW M8
I saw an old BMW 850 on the road the other day and I still got a bit of tingle – thinking back to how it felt when I first saw one as a kid. God they were cool. they’re still cool. The mind blowing thing about it, was that the shape of the car hardly changed for many years. I mean, look at this little 8 series from the 90′s..
You could launch this now and no-one would mind..

We were further reminded of the legendary 8 series in the late 90′s when Will Smith released the song Getting Jiggy With It (here), which was loosely based on my life and included the lyrics:

We certainly did get jiggy with it. At Taboo in Claremont, to be precise.
So anyway, it was very recently that I saw an 850 on the Cape Town roads and now, quite fortuitously, I stumble upon some mention of a BMW M8!

The model in the pictures below is the BMW M8 concept car, the Bavaria motor house’s last word in luxury and performance.
With a rumoured top speed of 462km/h (288mph), it outpaces the 1000+ hp Bugatti Veyron, which has a top speed of 407 km/h. astoundingly, the BMW M8 does this with no help from a supercharger or turbo while the Veyron relies on a quad-turbocharged 8L engine.
If these stats are indeed true, this will make the BMW M8 the fastest production car in the world, surpassing the SSC Ultimate Aero TT, which ousted the Veyron from it’s top spot.

i’m pretty sure that is the BMW CS Concept – looks stunning, but unfortuntely has been shit-canned by the bigwigs.

0 – 400 km/h est. 30 seconds (excluding stopping to fill up with petrol. Unless you have a small cambodian child leaning out the back window with a petrol can…)

My best friend when I was 10, dad had an 850 & a 750, he collected BMW’s. Such beautiful cars, he had a tv and cd player in the car when people were still listening to casettes. Thought it was the coolest thing ever

I have a 850i and for years it was driven some and then the monster set in the garage. One winter day I had to go to my parents for my dad had cancer. The only car that would start out of 3 was my beautiful BLACK MONSTER (nik name). I drove thru the biggest snow storm of the year from STL to PIA. The car was the only one on the road holding the snow and ice like glue. After reaching my parents house my dad said the car looked like a monster plowing thru the snow with just the front tip of the spoiler showing and the flipped up double lights on each side showing. I have driven it every day since, and with some work (if you can find a good mechanic) new tires and chrome rims,stainless steel pipes,my BLACK MONSTER RORRS everyday.
