The magnitude of such an investigation, the repercussions of such a repressive recovery and the flood of memories that accompany such an introspective film must be nothing short of horrifying, but Waltz with Bashir is different. War is war and soldiers only seem to readjust to some extent, by instigating some sort of buffer to numb the pain and block the vivid sights and sounds of their hellish experiences. Yesterday we brought you images of the gang of individuals stalking Springbok Captain, John Smit, at every book signing that he goes to (for the launch of his new book – “Captain in the Cauldron.“

They were up in arms over some things that were said in John’s book and have been following him around South Africa, to as many book signing sessions as they could muster.

Today, at the V&A Waterfront, they finally gave in to his superhero charms.. What’s more, they even got him to sign their Team Watson shirts!

Rugby was clearly the winner at the end of the day.

Edward Aikau was a well-known Hawaiian lifeguard and surfer. As the first lifeguard at Waimea Bay on the island of Oahu, he saved many lives and became famous for surfing the big Hawaiian surf, winning several awards including the 1977 Duke Kahanamoku Invitational Surfing Championship.

In memory of Eddie, came the Quiksilver Eddie Aikau Memorial Surf Contest. The event is now regarded as the most prestigious big wave surfing contest in the world. It is affectionately known as “The Eddie.”

Californian surfer, Greg Long, won this year’s Eddie a couple weeks back. One can understand then why these pics of Greg surfing in Cape Town in August this year, taken by Anthony Fox (The Surfer), would make local surfers jizz.
