JULIUS MALEMA KILLS KENNY ROGERS LOOKALIKE
Julius killed Kenny..
On Saturday night, Eugene Terreblanche (unaffectionately known as “E.T.”), the leader of the Afrikaner Weerstandsbeweging (AWB) was murdered on his farm in Ventersdorp. The alleged motive for the attack was a pay dispute between him and his slayers – two African gentlemen, aged 21 and 16 year, who hacked and bludgeoned him to death, using your garden variety knobkerrie and panga.
Eugene Terreblanche was 69 when he died and will always remain one of the greatest Kenny Rogers lookalikes the world has ever seen.

Eugène Terre’Blanche and Kenny Rogers
We don’t get overly political here on 2oceansvibe, not because we’re gay, but because the ongoing soap opera bores us. When the leader of South Africa’s most celebrated white supremacist outfit is murdered by “blacks,” the boredom is somewhat disrupted. And when this happens at a time that his logical racial nemesis, the equally loud-mouthed ANC Youth League president, Julius Malema, is running around singing songs which cry, “Kill the boer,” it does become popular topical conversation.
Whilst the police are calling for calm and emphasising that the killing was over pay, and not in the least bit politically motivated, do you think the AWB give a fuck? No ways. To give up this much leverage? Don’t be daft! Finally, they have something. And it’s pretty goddamn big – they have a martyr.
Eugene Terreblanche is their Biko. And what good timing, the same weekend that Jesus Christ was killed.
Here’s a quick recap on who they are, if you’ve just joined us (morning!):
Say, where’d you get the idea for the design? The Afrikaner Weerstandsbeweging (English: Afrikaner Resistance Movement) or AWB, is a far right political organisation and former paramilitary group in South Africa under the leadership of Eugène Terre’Blanche (1941-2010) until his death. They are committed to the restoration of an independent Boer republic or “Boerestaat” within South Africa. In their heyday they received much publicity both in South Africa and abroad as a white supremacist group.
Whilst we may never know the truth, one thing’s for sure, the murderers (they confessed to police) are pretty much exactly within Julius Malema’s target market. And whether you like it or not – they would have known of that “Kill the boer” song. That’s more than enough for the AWB to chew on. Eugene had always described himself as a “boer” (farmer).
Now seriously, who phones the police when you’ve just killed someone on a farm and no-one has seen you do it? Perhaps someone misguided and confident enough to think they have done the right thing? Someone looking for reward, even?
And to hack his body up into itty bitty pieces? Shit…. from where I’m sitting, there’s a lot of anger there! If you were just going to kill someone, you’d kill them. Bang! Unless, of course, you wanted to be a hero?

Julius Malema – called for the masses to
“Kill the boer”
Ironically, Julius Malema is currently in Zimbabwe, from whence he has applauded the economic policies of Zimbabwe leader, Robert Mugabe, confirming that he would like to implement the same white farm confiscation techniques, in South Africa.
Nice – great timing. I think I know a little boy who is heading for a speed wobble.
Malema may well be arrested for the murder of Eugene Terreblanche. I mean how different is this to me hiring an assassin to kill you?I should go down as well, right?
Controversial doesn’t even begin to describe the shit going down here. And if Malema gets lynched, I wouldn’t immediately point to the AWB. Conspiracy theorists would suggest another political organisation with a three letter acronym, also starting with the letter A.
Where were you when you heard Eugene Terreblanche was dead?
Read the BBC’s obituary for Eugene Terreblanche here.
And make ABSOLUTELY SURE you watch this interview with Eugene Terreblanche, conducted by the genius that is Louis Theroux, as a part of his Weird Weekends series. It gets messy..

Lets hope this at least is a catalyst for something, The ANC cant keep their dog Malema on a leash, they have to muzzle him now or there will be some serious backlashing going on.
Big business should insist on Malema being shut up or arrested, or they should disinvet with immediate affect. I’d like to see the ANC operate without cash. Zuma would be an idiot to let Malema carry on…. but hey, I kinda expect that now!

Eugene Terre Blanche will not be missed. However, this is now the time that President Zuma needs to action his leadership. Malema needs to be relieved of his position and forgotten about in the media, but NOT sent to jail. (Imagine how much he would love that… He would become a hero)
How did Malema get to be where he is today? What is his background etc…?
The ball is in your court Mr President

Exactly my sentiments. The AWB won’t care that this was the kind of dude who would have up offed by his employees anywhere in the world. ‘He is their Biko’. Horribly accurate point. BTW, his body was discovered by his deputy, who said that ET’s dogs had also been “neutralised”.

ET won’t be missed – he was not a good person…
Again Twitter beat the mainstream news services to the news of his death. I was about to sign off to sleep last night when I saw that Eugene Terreblanche had become a trending keyword.

Great post, Seth.
About Eugene & Louis Theroux – I’ve watched every one of Theroux’s Weird Weekend episodes.
He interviews a lot of very messed up people. Drug addicts, serial killers, nazis, hookers, prisoners.
Not one of them was as rude to him, or appeared to be as much of an asshole, as Eugene Terreblanche.
So ja, as Andy said, Terreblanche will not be missed.
But of course the bigger issue now is the whole focus on the race-hatred story. Our country was meant to be over that. This is going to set us back a lot of years of collective hard work as a cool country. Very sad.

Sorry, wrote that last comment on my mobile, hence the awful grammar.
Second sentence should read “The AWB won’t care that this was the kind of dude who would have ended up offed by his employees anywhere in the world.”
Seth, your mobile site is bitching.

“African Gentleman” is a derogatory comment. Rather use the word ‘Black’. I am white, I am African….not sure if I am a gentleman tho.

I say good riddance to a rightwing nutter, now, just to even it out, lets hope Malema spontaneously combusts or gets run over by a mining machine (oh the irony)or something, and the country will have become a much better place for all in the span of one week.

Sorry Seth, but when I read this on the weekend I was rather disappointed.
You railed against the “ongoing soap opera” of local politics in your post, but I think that this “aria” of yours may have contributed to the ill-informed and speculative baying which was heard in the immediate aftermath of the man’s murder.
Even the misguided idiots in the AWB realised that they made dof statements “in the heat of the moment” and were forced to withdraw them in the cold light of day.
During a time of shock and anger when emotions were high, was is it not the prudent and sensible thing to avoid being speculative and knee-jerk reactionary?
I thought that seasoned journalist and commentator Ryland Fisher was the guy who, for me, got it most right. Also writing on the Thought Leader Blog on Sunday, I thought Fisher was reasoned and his arguments were not of the soap-opera type.

The Mail & Guardian puts the youngest at age 15. The Basic Conditions of Employment Act gives that as the lowest legal age of employment. One wonders how long he was in Eugene’s employ. I don’t suppose the CCMA^ will step in and educate the public on the no-nos of panga wage dispute resolution.
