Hey, you guys know that photo, right? The one with the tennis-playing girl lifting up the back of her dress in a way that’s sort of sexy but also obliviously enough for people to call it art, rather than sexy-tennis-photography? It’s by Martin Elliot, who died recently, so the model’s decided to let us know who she is.
Fiona Walker, née Butler, Elliot’s then-girlfriend, is now 52 years old, doesn’t like tennis much, and works as a freelance illustrator. I think I might’ve been happier when I had no idea who she was, but it’s still pretty neat. Walker claimed ownership of the cheeks at Birmingham’s Barber Institute of Fine Arts, where the photo will be on display for some weeks.
“It never ceases to make me smile when I see it,” Walker said. “I have no regrets about it.”
