Hugo Keith, a lawyer representing South African authorities at Shrien Dewani’s extradition hearing today alleged that Dewani needed a way out of his marriage to his wife, Anni, which wouldn’t result in him being disowned by his family.
Keith is quoted as saying:
He said although she was a nice, lovely girl who he liked, he could not break out of the engagement because he would be disowned by his family. He went on to say to the witness he needed to find a way out of it.
Keith went on to say that the unnamed witness was prepared to testify against Dewani in a South African court, should he be extradited.
