Playboy SA Editor Resigns After Just Three Issues
Loyal 2oceansVibers will know that it was barely three months ago when the lovely Tracy McGregor joined The Morning Meeting, in studio, to tell all about gracing the inaugural cover of Playboy SA (sneak peak here). No reasons have been made public yet, but yesterday the magazine’s editor Peter Piegl announced his resignation on twitter.
I can’t quite imagine relinquishing a position like that in SA media, but he’s certainly jumped ship. Mr Piegl’s twitter updates (@Piegl) say he has no idea where he’s going next.
The magazine released a statement today confirming his resignation, adding that Charl Du Plessis, a senior editor and media owner, will act as editor-in-chief until at least the next issue hits the shelves.
From the statement:
“Peter has played a pivotal role in bringing the South African edition to fruition, and his resignation is a sad moment for us. We wish him good fortune in his future endeavours,” says Johann Botha, Playboy South Africa MD
“Nevertheless, we must keep moving forward, and we are heartened that Charl du Plessis has agreed to act as editor-in-chief. He is a highly experienced magazine journalist, and we are confident that Playboy South Africa will continue to be in steady editorial hands.”
Give us a shout Peter, let us know what’s up.

I heard he felt Playboy was too tame and is bringing Hustler to South Africa. He has always admired Larry Flint and feels there is more a market for that level of publication in South Africa.

Damn right, Playboy is tame as fuck. You see more naked people in your average issue of Cosmo.
