An official iPad app for Skype has been pulled mere hours after being made available for free via the iTunes Store. No specific reason was given, except for a Skype tweet claiming the release was “premature.” Awkward.
Hopefully this is just a temporary glitch, as this is looking like a must-have app for all Mac-heads. It includes all of the features you’d expect: video chat, instant messaging, phone calls and quick access to your contacts. But unlike the iPhone app version, this one can also send instant messages during video calls. It works with both the iPad 1 and the iPad 2.
