Aleksandr Pylyshenko, a Ukrainian artist who owns a private zoo in the city of Vasilyevka, plans on living in an enclosure with Katya and Samson, his lions, for five weeks to raise money to improve the zoo’s living conditions and to increase awareness of underfunded private Ukrainian zoos. So that makes sense.
If you weren’t aware that underfunded private Ukrainian zoos existed until about five seconds ago, then Pylyshenko has just totally succeeded in increasing awareness.
Pylyshenko entered the enclosure on Tuesday. He plans on spending the next 35 days painting pictures of the lions, and to help the pregnant Katya give birth. Which also makes perfect sense.
In other news, where do Ukrainian artists make enough money to just buy zoos and lions? Hell, Mike Tyson only ever had that one tiger, if I can trust The Hangover to tell me what animals celebrities own.
