With the price of internet going down and the price of satellite television going up, it is not surprising that so many people are opting for uncapped broadband over television subscriptions. After all, you can get more up-to-date movies and TV series online. You do know about how to get a US iTunes account, right? Click here for more on that.

So while local satellite TV companies are trying to get the same bland content to you faster (unsuccessfully it seems - see here) we’re trying out some new stuff.

2oceansvibe TV wants to give you some regular quality content. 3-5 minute episodes on a variety of topics. From rugby and food, to gym and fashion, we want to give you a weekly dose of original programming, created and delivered in a way that doesn’t make you feel like a stranger. Something that doesn’t look like it was made to appeal to the lowest common denominator. New episodes of each show come out at a specific time and day each week – depending on the show.

And, what’s more, most of them are playing in Rikki’s London taxis, driving all over Cape Town.

We’re launching some new sitcoms next week
(one of which features Rob Van Vuuren – will blow your mind!)

  Hey Chuck! Thanks for the comments – really appreciate the support. In the interest of clarity, it should be mentioned that 2oceansvibe ‘blog’ readership (unique readers and page views) has grown each and every year since inception. In fact June this year was our highest month ever, with 225,000 unique readers in one month.

  ‘With the price of internet going down…’ ???? Am I missing something? I am out of the country a minimum of 6 to 8 months a year, so a Telkom contract does not work for me. I pay my (Vodacom) 3G ‘pay and go’ and as far as I can remember the price is still the same as 3 or 4 years ago (1 G = 289Rand).
  @Seth’s comment; Yes you have grown over the last years; Great! So according to you; quality can only be measured by quantity? Very, very worrying indeed!

  There are some very jealous people here and I don’t know too much about the internet but I do hear a lot of people talking about the price of broadband going down. My friend got 10gig a month for R200 on 8ta. Thanks good right? Don’t we have un-capped broadband at home now as well? Well done on a great new venture seth! Brilliant as always!
