As far as extreme sports go this is far from ‘just another jump’. Not only did it take these guys ten years to get a permit to pull this off, but they will be joined by Timeslive photographer, Marianne Schwankhart. Oh, and the mountain they’re about to jump off of, is 5895m high.  If you’ve only done Lion’s Head, start hyperventilating now.
Led by champion paraglider Pierre Carter, and world-class climber Schwan-khart and Joined by an American and a Namibian paraglider, this will be the 3rd peak in their ‘Seven Summits, Seven Flights’ mission.
Having already flown off Mount Elbrus, in Russia, and off Aconcagua, in Argentina, the groups mission is to ascend the highest peaks on every continent and paraglide off them.
When asked what is so special about Kilimanjaro, Carter said:
“Paragliding off Kilimanjaro will be different to the other flights because we will have 11 paragliders in the air simultaneously – it will be fantastic. This is a once-off.”
They will also be donating some equipment, such as a portable desk that stores water, to local kids near the ascent route.
