Breaking: Cape Town Police Arrest Heavily Armed Man In Woodstock

He should thank his stars he wasn’t caught in China!

Cape Town police arrested an as yet un-named man today holding a virtual armoury of weapons, and a literal pharmacy of illegal narcotics. The 28-year old was caught carrying:

A 9mm Browning pistol
Four MK8 red rockets (handheld distress flares)
One MK5 smoke grenade
75 different rounds of ammunition
178g of tik,
120 Mandrax tablets,
80 units of heroin,
70 units of cocaine,
One parcel of dagga
A partridge in a pear tree

Okay, not that last one, but quite a haul nonetheless! The man was arrested at a house in Dublin Road following a tip off to police yesterday. He will appear in the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court on Monday charged with possessing an unlicensed firearm, ammunition and dealing in drugs. The firearm was reported stolen in 2007.

One pistol, flares, smoke grenades and 75 rounds of ammunition (different makes) do not an arsenal make.
The drug count is impressive. Sounds like a dealer carrying a little protection, rather than a man with an arsenal of weapons.
