Cracks Found In A380′s Wings – Airbus Says Plane Is Still Safe To Fly
I hate flying. I can’t explain it, but I have a terrible irrational fear of being in a plane. I just can’t get my head around that much metal not falling out of the sky. And now my fears are made worse – Airbus has found cracks in the wings of the A380 – but says it’s still safe to fly.
The A380 is Airbus’s biggest plane – a massive double decker tube that carries 525 passengers. A crack was found two weeks ago in Australia, but two more planes have been found to have the same problem, a mere four years after delivery. But Airbus isn’t considering this to be a problem – they maintain that the crack doesn’t affect the safety of the plane to fly. Yeah, sorry, I’m not buying that.
The cracks are on an L-shaped bracket which connects the wing’s exterior to the internal “rib” structure. Airbus issued the following statement:
Airbus confirms that some additional cracks have been found on a limited number of non-critical brackets … inside the wings of some A380s. Airbus emphasizes that these cracks do not affect the safe operation of the aircraft.
I think I’ll be driving to London, thanks.

I could only see that it was one from the Qantas fleet, and then an additional two planes from other fleets. That could be Lufthansa, Singapore or Emirates, who are the other 3 big clients.
