Two properties in Bryanston and Douglasdale, north of Johannesburg, have been raided by police. It is believed by the police that the syndicate produced large amounts of mandrax tablets, and a third drug laboratory is currently under investigation.

Five people have been arrested in connection with the two laboratories, including two brothers, their wives and a domestic worker. New Crime Intelligence Boss, Chris Ncgobo, praised the officers for solid police work and said that the success was based on solid intelligence gathering.

Neighbours were shocked at the arrests, saying they were completely unaware of the labs sitting right next door. The suspects will appear in court today.
