What does Kate Moss, Nic Cage, The Queen, Joanna Lumley, Greg Kinnear, Stevie Wonder, Joan Collins and Helen Zille have in common? They’ve all shopped at or worn jewelry from SA’s very own Uwe Koetter jewellers, that’s what!

I was lucky enough to attend the launch of their new showroom in the Cape Quarter and you won’t believe it, I won a diamond! Everyone got a glass of bubbles upon arrival, with a fake diamond at the bottom of the glass. Only four of the fake diamonds were the correct size to gain access to the final stage of the competition that night, with one person taking home the prize. With a one in 50 chance, I made it through and took home a half a carat champagne colour diamond!

I must add that when we arrived I gave the first glass to my date Ard Matthews and then grabbed another one for myself. Shame, it seems Ard believes (with the benefit of hindsight) I should have kept my glass and let him get his own!

Ja..ja… Should’ve, would’ve, could’ve!

On Thursday 26 July, Uwe Koetter Jewellers – South Africa’s single most awarded Jeweller- hosted the grand finale of its four exclusive launch events which took place at the new Showroom this July.

The hype and excitement of the launch was evident the minute one walked into the Cape Quarter Lifestyle Village where the breathtaking new Showroom is located.

Mannequins featuring replicas of Uwe Koetter Jeweller’s most impressive designs (including an item commissioned for HM Queen Elizabeth II), lined the entrance hall and paved the way to the showroom which comprises of the finest local & international jewellery designs- including items designed by Johan Louw (South Africa’s most awarded jewellery designer), and a host of international jewellery and luxury watch brands such as TAG Heuer, Gucci, Hermes, Frédérique Contstant & Ebel.

Being the first of its kind in Africa, the new designer showroom also features an outstanding in-store Bubbly Bar by the Allée Bleue Wine Estate and a full service Wedding and Special Events Consultancy by the award-winning Aleit Group.

The launch was indeed a glamorous affair, showcasing not only Uwe Koetter Jewellers’ exquisite new showroom, but paying homage to over 44 years of exceptional jewellery design and innovation.
