I have a gentleman from Malawi on my staff team. He picked up where Mavis left off, and we’ve never looked back. Having expressed a keen interest in the gourmet arts, Alexander has now completed a cooking course and even had lessons with Evan Faull from Knead bakery. Needless to say we don’t buy bread at the shops anymore – homemade seed loaf (and scones) all the way! You really should do the same – they put so much rubbish in “shop bread” these days. He uses the same bread to make me sandwiches every morning. Of course, that’s the least of his talents.

Alexander does nip off to the shops on the scooter, mind you – but that’s for other things besides bread. He uses the prepaid debit card linked to my account to get butter, milk, toilet paper, flowers, candles, fruit, washing powder, Dove soap, lightbulbs (changes them, too) etc. from the Friendly store and Pick n Pay – so we never really have to worry about that stuff. But that’s not everything. There are some things that The Muse and I would love him to get from Woolworths – like their free range chicken, orchids and paté, among many other things.
Homemade seed loaf – very naughty…
The only problem is there is no Woolies in Camps Bay and it would mean he would have to drive over Kloof Nek to the Gardens store. Much like any Camps Bay mother with their child using a scooter, I simply couldn’t live with myself if something had to happen to a key member of my staff team on Kloof Nek, Kloof Street or Buitengracht Street, so after some discussion with Alex, we both agreed that it would be wise if he didn’t attempt the crossing on a scooter. But then how do we get that stuff from Woolworths? You guessed it, Alex asked to get his car driver’s license.

I spice you not when I tell you that Alexander had never driven a car in his life before. For a man so skilled, it was a gaping chink in his armour. I got in touch with idrive.co.za and gave them his number. A few months and 15 lessons later, he PASSED HIS DRIVER’S FIRST TIME! No spice!

I don’t know if you have staff that need to become more mobile, or if you yourself need a car driver’s license. But whatever your needs are, PLEASE do me a favour and go to idrive.co.za to get your license first time. They even book the appointment for you.
Seriously – it’s ridic!
