Shocking footage of a teacher brutally attacking a female student at Patriot High in Mpumalanga emerged online earlier this week. The educator eventually had to be subdued by scholars in his own classroom.

The video was taken by one of the pupils on a cellphone. The teacher in question has since been suspended. It is believed that the student called him “gay” shortly before he turned violent.

The Department of Basic Education says it is aware of the incident.
