Microsoft now resides at position number three on the list of most valuable technology businesses in the world. Only Apple tops Google, but by quite a lot.
This day was coming. Sure, Google doesn’t produce what Microsoft does, but where it lacks in software revenue, it definitely doesn’t in advertising revenue.
Yesterday, Google’s market capitalisation rose to approximately $249,9 billion, Microsoft’s, on the other hand, dropped to approximately $247,2 billion. Only Apple, the world’s most valuable company at $618,1 billion is ahead of it.
If you’ve heard of the Internet, then it’s probably fair to say that you’ll have heard of the search giant that was founded by by Larry Page and Sergey Brin. It’s hard to imagine a life without Google now, even though the company just turned 14.
Martin Pyykkonen, a Greenwood Village, Colorado-based analyst at Wedge Partners Corporation:
The PC hardware business is obviously struggling. The transition here is pretty straightforward in terms of where things have moved to and certainly that’s cloud, that’s Web.
Google currently controls 66 per cent of the search market in the United States, of America, while Microsoft only controls 16 per cent.
“Hey, won’t you Bing that?”
No. It just doesn’t sound right.
Google also has a firm hold on the smartphone market with its Android operating system – a system that continues to see growth.
They grow up so fast.
