Former South African President Nelson Mandela’s Johannesburg office has been made into an interactive Centre Of Memory. Mandela’s documents, gifts and awards will be on display for the public to see. Mandla Mandela, grandson of Nelson Mandela said:
For us it is a special moment. Particularly being the 50th anniversary of when my grnadfather went into Robben Island. It enables us as a family to share all the documents my grandfather has and the gifts he has recieved over the years.
As of September, visits will be by appointment only and there will be no entry fee. Milton Nkosi from the BBC reports on the centre’s official opening.
