An Italian artist in New York City is bringing Google Street View to life through his project called ‘Street Ghosts.’ He scours Google Street View until he finds an interesting looking person (Google blurs out the faces of people captured by their cameras) then he prints out a life sized photo and paints it on to the side of a building where that person was spotted.
The artist, Paolo Cirio says each “ghost” becomes part of the physical landscape until it is taken down. He keeps a map on his website that plots each and every location where he has painted a ghost.
Cirio says that by putting the photos up he is drawing attention to how the internet giant took the photos without asking in the first place.
