After relaxing some of the laws around gadget use inside planes, the US government is considering yet more aviation rule changes.
But the American public seems to have already made up their minds.
A recent poll has shown that more Americans oppose the idea of allowing phone calls in mid-air. The poll, which was conducted jointly by The Associated Press and market research firm GfK Group, found that 48% of respondents oppose allowing calls, 19% are in favour and 30% are neutral.
Which isn’t surprising really, when you consider the sheer rudeness of the guy who wanted the whole plane to know he was talking on his phone.
Despite the findings above, 43% of Americans in the same poll were in favour of the new FAA regulations that allow airline passengers to use most electronic gadgets during all phases of flights, as long as the gadgets are in “airplane mode.”
The Federal Communications Commission will begin discussing whether or not to change its rules regarding voice calls during flights at an open meeting on Thursday.
