Faithful fans will always defend their idol. Chris Brown has a Twitter following that defends him every time he is in the news for assault or domestic violence charges and they go by the hashtag #teambreezy. Oscar Pistorius also has his own Twitter fan club that lend their full support: #Pistorians.
Pistorians are made up of young women who keep watch on social media, aiming to defend their idol’s reputation. Pistorians are spread across the globe, some live in SA while others reside far afield, living in Germany, the UK or Borneo. They made news last year when Australian journalist Alex McClintock was bombarded with tweets, after he posted an unrelated tweet concerning domestic violence in South Africa. “Err, like she was a bikini model, sex sells!! I would be really upset if my daughter posed like that,” tweeted @feismumdebi and “Call me old fashioned but I’d rather my boyfriend didn’t allow a perceived intruder to enter the house unchallenged,” wrote @sabipheebee, were some of tweets McClintock received.
It seems Pistorians will stop at almost nothing in their hero’s defense, even taking a jab at Reeva..
