Beleaguered president Jacob Zuma has indicated that his R246 million homestead in Nkandla, KwaZulu-Natal could face listing on the real estate market in the coming months, as the president struggles to raise the millions owed to South African tax payers following the construction of a swimming pool, amphitheatre, and chicken run at his private home.
Zuma declined comment, remarking that his personal affairs ought not distract from election campaigning underway in the Western Cape. Presidential spokesperson, Mac Maharaj said:
His excellency the president feels pretty bad about the mix up with the chicken run thing. And while he thoroughly enjoys community theatre, he feels that the cost of the amphitheatre at his home can no longer be justified, especially in the light of recent news that the body of water at the bottom of the garden was in fact designed for weekend braais.
Asked whether Zuma felt any guilt related to the construction of the chicken run, Maharaj said that they were just “a bloody luss.”
