Elon Musk is one smart guy, and the South African-born Tesla CEO believes that the development of sharper artificial intelligence is edging us closer to a Terminator-esque future.
Ironically, Musk is responsible for some of the biggest technological leaps in recent years, but has revealed in an interview to CNBC that he’s already feeling a little nervous about the impending man vs machine war.
I like to just keep an eye on what’s going on with artificial intelligence. I think there is potentially a dangerous outcome there.
In the movie “Terminator,” they didn’t create A.I. to — they didn’t expect, you know some sort of “Terminator”-like outcome. It is sort of like the “Monty Python” thing: Nobody expects the Spanish inquisition. It’s just — you know, but you have to be careful.
That’s good; so even though there’s a computer than can trick us into thinking it’s human, as well as a US Army Black Hawk helicopter than can essentially fly itself, we can just escape to space using Musk’s SpaceX tech, right?
The A.I. will chase us there pretty quickly.
Oh great. So not even one of the smartest guys of our time believes we can escape the Robot War.
