The country is waiting in what I want to call excitement (but realise this is probably the wrong word to use in the case of a murder trial) to hear the verdict for Oscar Pistorius on Thursday.
In what can only be called the longest 19 months of Oscar’s life, will the decision be in his favour, or not?
William Booth, a criminal lawyer, has a few insightful comments about which way the court could sway.
“I think there is quite a significant risk that Oscar could be convicted of murdering the intruder.”
Booth goes on to say that “anybody who shot four times through a door, into a tiny toilet, must have known they were going to kill the person on the other side”.
The fact that this happened in South Africa, where everyone is a little bit afraid of crime and intruders (to say the least), could also play a major part in the sentencing.
Booth has also praised Judge Thokozile Masipa, saying she has been very objective throughout the trial.
We can only wait and see.
