If you thought Brits mainly spend the majority of their hard-earned cash at the local pub, you’d be wrong.
The numbers from an official study on money spent on illegal activities in England reveal that expenditure on prostitutes and drugs outweighs that spent on alcohol.
Around £12.3 billion was used on the less-than-savoury shenanigans, and the Office for National Statistics used some street-insight to produce the numbers.
“As might be expected, data on this sort of activity is not exactly forthcoming, so we used a number of previous studies which looked at different elements of the equation, from the number of prostitutes in the UK to price at which drugs are bought.”
