Ladies and gentlemen, THIS is why I do not like balls coming near my face. Because they are all trying to actually kill us.
But in all seriousness, Aussie batsman Phil Hughes was hit on the head by a cricket ball yesterday, and is now in critical condition (in an induced coma) at St Vincent’s Hospital in Sydney. He was flown from the SCG via helicopter.
The video shows Hughes get hit by the ball and double over with his hands on his knees, before he just keels over face first onto the pitch. (Apologies for the poor video, it was not aired live, but streamed.)
Masuri, the manufacturer of the helmet that Hughes was wearing, has said he was not wearing their latest model, which could have given him better protection.
