When you take two musical icons from different times and get them to cover a rock ‘n’ roll classic there can often be mixed results. Then again that’s often the result of the older musician not knowing when it might be time to hang up his booze-riddled boots.
One thing Robert Plant (lead vocalist of Led Zeppelin) cannot be accused of is fading into obscurity, having won a Grammy with Alison Krauss for Album of the Year as recently as 2009. Now when you combine that talent with musical genius Jack White you’d be excused for getting your hopes up.
Luckily the duo did not disappoint at Lollapalooza Argentina, with this from Huffington Post:
[On] Saturday night, real magic happened when Plant, who is also on this year’s Lollapalooza Argentina lineup, came onstage to perform the Zeppelin classic with White on guitar…this was the first time Plant has performed “The Lemon Song” live since he and Jimmy Page played it in Norway in 1995.
Here’s hoping that there is more in store from these two but for now this cover will have to do.
