BMW definitely nailed the April Fools Day jokes yesterday and are one of my self-proclaimed winners.
It all went down in New Zealand, where BMW ran an advert on the front page of the New Zealand Herald.
April Fool’s Day Special – The first person to come into the dealership and ask for Tom can swap their old car for a brand new BMW.
Too good to be true, right? That’s what BMW thought most people would assume. But you know what they say about assumption…
Auckland resident Tianna Marsh saw the ad and swiftly drove her 15-year old Nissan Avenir station wagon to the car dealership. She walked in with a friend, asked for Tom, and was promptly given a brand new 1 Series.
This from BMW spokesman Ed Finn:
The ad was intentionally vague and definitely appeared too good to be true, but in this case we wanted to turn the tables and reward the first person who was willing to take the chance.
Isn’t that a wonderfully happy break from plane crashes, Eskom and The Statue?
