You don’t have to be a tennis fan to be familiar with the name John McEnroe, the man who made the on-court tantrum famous and the words’ you cannot be serious‘ his own. Despite his bratty behaviour McEnroe maintained a good relationship with most fans, something Aussie punk Nick Kyrgios would do well to learn from.
The 20-year-old suffered what can only be called a meltdown after receiving a warning for swearing during his match-up against Richard Gasquet, giving up on trying to return the Frenchman’s serve. Deadspin reports:
The crowd started booing, and after one more weak attempt, Kyrgios got skunked…That wasn’t the end of it for Kyrgios. He later argued about changing socks with the line judge…
Kyrgios could be subject to a $250,000 fine from the International Tennis Federation for giving up during the match, if that course of action’s pursued.
He then decided to hug a ballboy in what can best be described as an awkward exchange.
There really is no excuse for behaviour like this and, whilst Kyrgios is still a young man, I’m sure in due course he will look back on this outburst with much shame.
Not cool mate, what do you think Kylie Minogue and Hugh Jackman would say about this kind of nonsense?
