If you’re still feeling the effects of a festive weekend then be warned – what you are about to see is rather gruesome.
South African surfing superstar Jordy Smith shared the video below on his Instagram, although he did not film it himself. That dubious honour belongs to 27-year-old John Braxton, a spear fisherman from Hawaii. News24 reports:
Braxton took the video after being attacked by the shark and posted it to his own Instagram account….the man was spear fishing when he says a 13 foot [four metre] long tiger shark bit his leg and swam off. He was able to swim to shore and alert other fishermen, who then called 911.
Braxton is in serious condition in North Hawaii Community Hospital.
I don’t think you would call anyone who has been attacked by a shark lucky, but to get away from a four-metre tiger shark to tell the tale is something of an escape. [source:news24]
