By now we are used to President Trump using Twitter to express his ‘unconventional’ thoughts, but it is his predecessor who is winning the game of retweets and likes.
In reaction to the vile actions of White Supremacist Nazis in Charlottesville over the weekend, President Obama sent out a series of three tweets.
The first, which quoted part of a passage from Nelson Mandela and was accompanied by a picture of Mr Obama smiling with a group of children, has now become the most liked tweet in history.
The tweet has been liked more than four million times since it was posted on 13 August, reports BBC:
Over three tweets, Mr Obama quoted a passage from Mr Mandela’s autobiography, The Long Walk To Freedom.
“No one is born hating another person because of the colour of his skin or his background or his religion,” the quote reads.
“People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite.”
The picture shows Obama in 2011 visiting a day care centre in Bethesda, Maryland and was taken by the then-White House photographer, Pete Souza – the same man who likes to take a dig at Trumpilstiltskin every now and then.
Here’s the tweet:
Oh, Obama.
Coming in second is Ariana Grande’s post expressing condolences after the Manchester terror attack in May.
Man, what a different president Barack was.
