Firefighters are currently battling a fire that broke out on the construction site of Mitchells Plain Hospital. Not a lot of details are known at this stage. EWN is reporting that emergency officials are on the scene, and that site managers are trying to keep the media away from taking pictures.

Man Fighting For His Life After Court Shooting This Morning

This morning a man was shot in the neck outside the Cape High Court, and is currently fighting for his life. His attackers are unknown and immediately fled the scene. According to people who know the victim, he was attending a murder trial involving five members of the Junky Funkie Gang.

Photos Surface Of Local “Shark Whisperer” Tickling Great White [PICS]

Yesterday bodyboarder David Lilienfeld suffered fatal injuries after being attacked by a shark near Cape Town. On the same day, several international websites also happened to run a feature on Andre Hartman, South Africa’s “Shark Whisperer”. Pictures of Hartman placing his hand on the snout of a great white shark and “putting it in a trance” were the main focus. See them inside.

Shark Documentary Filming Permits Cancelled Following Tragic Death Of Bodyboarder

Only a few hours have passed since Camps Bay bodyboarder, David Lilienfeld was fatally attacked by a Great White shark in Koeelbaai, near Cape Town. Less than two days ago, 2oceansvibe Reported the controversy around the awarding of filming permits to documentary film makers, who were chumming the water off the Cape Coast in a bid to attract Great Whites for tagging and filming purposes. At the time, Alan Boyd of the Department of Environmental Affairs defended the permits. Moments ago, in the wake of the tragedy, Boyd cancelled them.

While there’s still uncertainty around why he resorted to pulling out a gun, it’s not hard to surmise there was no love lost between the fiance and the former husband.

Newlands Kidnapping Report Is A Hoax

Late yesterday afternoon, and once more in the early hours of this morning, the hashtag #kidnapping began trending locally on Twitter. Multiple tweets claimed that a child had been kidnapped from the leafy Cape Town suburb of Newlands, and a red VW City Golf Velocity with the registration STW048GP was identified as the getaway car. Taxi Nightmare Continues For Cape Town Commuters

The nightmare continues for commuters throughout the Cape Town metropolitan area, due to continued striking by Santaco (the SA National Taxi Council). Violence re-erupted overnight when a bus was set alight and cars were stoned. Police are monitoring the situation but it’s still very hard to catch a taxi.

Enraged Cape Town taxi strikers resorted to stone throwing this morning, due to controversy surrounding the issuing of operating licences and the “draconian” enforcement of traffic laws. This resulted in police firing rubber bullets at the protestors. There are still no taxis running on the main routes in Cape Town. So that’s been resolved well.
