A bit of colour never hurts and definitely secures some bonus points – hence the shocking pink Superman T-shirt. The new Prada shades and Puma jacket add some all-important “flash” to the ensemble and, with a tight joint under the bonnet, you’re good to go!

By the way, first prize will always go to the true essence of “LA Style” – which is wearing a dressing gown to the shops. You just can’t beat it – it’s like the Joker in the pack. I often walk down to vida e from the Cape Royale in my dressing gown.

I’ve been getting a lot of attention about two things lately. My new shades, and the shirts I’ve been throwing around. People say that I have been “killing it” and they want to know where the goods are from. Look, that’s fair enough..

So instead of having to tell each and every one if you individually, I thought I’d throw this article together, giving you the required information.

I thought I’d go for the “ooooh-mouth” model look for this shot. With my hands up, showing that I’m ready for action. Cautious, but happy to give it a go. Like when Kevin Bacon said “jump back!” in Footloose.

Good times. Did you know about my “C-TAP” nickname?

It’s funny.. I regularly get into what pot-smokers describe as a “zone” during interviews and, when published, I often don’t remember what I said at the time.

My favourite answer would have to be the one about the dolphins. That really made me chuckle.

And howz that pic of me and my labrador? Her name was Katie.

Just to run you through the process – I recorded the show on my PVR decoder at The Safe House. So what that does is it stores the show in digital format on the PVR machine – for use at home. There is no facility to transfer this data from the machine to another machine, or computer, or disc or flash drive. Granted, there is a USB port on the decoder – but it doesn’t do anything,

So my friends at iKraal lent me a VIDEO MACHINE. That’s right – an old school style VHS video player/recorder. Awesome! I would hook up the machine between the PVR and the TV and record the show! There was only one problem – I needed a VHS tape..

Not the easiest thing in the world, I’m sure you can imagine. I went to Caldis on Long Street where the staff completely ignored me and managed to muster a mumble confirming that they had no VHS tapes. A very different attitude to when I bought the several plasma screens and DVD players and stereos in the past.

So anyway, should you ever require a VHS tape, I can confirm that Pick n’ Pay at the Waterfront sells them. I got a TDK 180 – quite mean! So I took that home, recorded the show from PVR onto tape and took the tape to iKraal, who have the facilities to transfer that video BACK into digital format! From there I could put it on “le web” – which is what the French call it.

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is how we got to this point!

The German seven-times former Formula One champion dramatically took off the Stig’s famous white helmet and winked during an interview with presenter Jeremy Clarkson.

The studio audience had urged him to reveal his true identity chanting “off, off, off” after Schumacher, 40, made a surprise appearance on the show.

But the unveiling may have been a hoax. Many viewers were unconvinced, believing that the white overalls and helmet are shared by several drivers.

A BBC insider admitted it was done “as a joke.” A BBC spokesman said: “We never reveal who or what the Stig is.”

Six awards including blog of the year, best original writing and most humorous. Did this come as a surprise?

With six nominations, I certainly was hoping to get at least one or two. But six? And the best overall? No – I simply refused to think that far. I lived with professional rugby players for a few years in my early 20’s and talking about winning before a match was taboo in our house. “Jinxing” the match and all that, is an absolute no-no!

When did you start blogging and why?

About seven years ago, before blogs were really blogs. I just made a website to showcase photos of parties that my friends and I had been to the previous weekend. Just for everyone to see. In the days when my buddies had internet access, but no email. Then I started commenting on the pics and writing little stories to fill the spaces. Strangers told me they enjoyed it which was weird – but appealing. They found it funny and urged me to keep writing. I enjoyed writing (and still do) so I continued!

What inspires you to blog everyday?

Just everything I do and see and think. Like any discussion you would have with a friend in a bar or a braai or a restaurant – exactly the same thing, except I type it for everyone else to see as well. Whatever I’m talking about, I’m writing about.

2oceansvibe is a ridiculously popular blog (35 000 unique readers a month) authored by a ridiculously funny man called Seth Rotherham. He’s built up his blog’s culture around a simple phrase – “work is a sideline, live the holiday”. This is exactly what he seems to be doing – while taking his friends (often featured on the blog) and favourite brands along for the ride. We tracked him down via email to answer some questions in the way only he can. Enjoy.

Blogs are arguably not the normal home for the suave and almost-naked-woman surrounded – how did u get into it?

I started 7 years ago before blogging was really happening and/or popular. I just made the site to showcase pictures of friends and beautiful angels taken at parties the previous weekend. Mainly just for my close mates. I used to write the odd funny comment next to the pics and strangers started telling me how they found it funny. That felt weird. And nice. Like when you take a leak in a wetsuit. I continued and here we are today (sans wetsuit).

Work is a Sideline, Live the Holiday – is 2oceansvibe your day job?

Absolutely. Fortunately I’ve developed a system whereby I don’t really have to work. This allows me to focus on 2oceansvibe and, as a result, I can produce this online reality show type vibe and write about what I’m doing which happens to be chilling out doing nice things with nice people. It appeals to the reader as it’s stuff that we all want to do.

Was there a moment of shining light when you thought ‘I’m a lifestyle blogger!’ and if so when did it happen?

Jeez. Probably the day when a 2oceansvibe cocktail appeared on the Caprice Cocktail menu. But seriously, nothing has changed. I started before blogging was a word – I’m just writing about what everyone is talking about.

We like the way you manage to keep advertising entertaining on your blog. Do you find it a tough balance to strike?

Not in the slightest. I only advertise brands I like or want to try. If they let me down, or repeatedly let down/offend my readers (my most adored treasure), they won’t be there any longer. Part of the reason people come to 2oceansvibe is to get recommendations on stuff. I’ve always written about products and brands; what I eat, wear, have and do anyway, whether they’re paid for or not – it’s all real.

You’ve evolved a whole culture around your writing, with characters and ‘angels’ (the number of times you mention the word ‘vibe’ is quite something) – how much conscious planning goes into it?

Not much at all. That is exactly how we/I talk. Nothing on the site is contrived. My friends have always referred to each other as the characters shown on the 2oceansvibe characters list. The Chief, for example, would call me and say, “Have you heard the latest spice about our boy?” I’d go, “Which one.” He’d go, “The Insurance Broker.” “Oooh, no I did not… tell me more!!” and so it goes on.

“The Safe House” has always been called that (2oceansvibe or not) and it’s because it is high up in Camps Bay and lets me look down over everything – feeling safe. We always call chicks angels and I think it’s good that we do – because they are!

Vibe is just the most versatile word. “What’s the vibe” – “Check that guy’s vibe!” – “Howz your vibe?” – “A boring vibe” – “Quite a vibe” – “That angel is giving me a vibe” – it goes one. Which vibe are you referring to, exactly?

Do you promote your blog, or did you when you started? (I can’t imagine you reading posts like 10 tips for growing your readership or Problogger).

Nah, there was never any promotion – purely word of mouth. There are little scandals along the way which allowed the site to gain new readers and continue forward. The most recent was the high profile public spat I had with the Idols Judges. Which resulted in me responding to Randy Abrahams with a video which has been watched over 80,000 times now.

I just grab the bull by the horns when the moment presents itself. I think the secret behind 2oceansvibe is a variation of dare-I-say-it “The Secret” (which is a variation of the same thing covered in every good business book of all time). I look after brands and people I trust. I talk about it. The readers trust me, and they follow my lead. In return the vibe grows. Because it’s a good vibe built on trust. We don’t interact with dicks. Ever.

Shopping becomes tricky..

It should be noted that, besides being home to such notables as director Ridley Scott, the mayor of Ménerbes happens to be none other than Yves Rousset-Rouard – the man who created and produced the Emmanuelle films.

The guy basically found soft porn.

What more would you want from your mayor?

My Mother is quite a serious cook and will cream your mom at any dish. Seriously, ANY dish – she doesn’t fuck around. One of her specialties is Christmas fruit cake. The whole extended family, from Paris to Parys used to put in orders every year and the production line would kick into action. All I remember around this time of year is a crazy mouth-watering smell in the air, with our kitchen resembling a mild fruit fuckshow – with bags of cherries and nuts all over the show.

Nowadays, due to the time and effort put into Mum’s Christmas fruit cakes, combined with the sheer extravagance of it all, only a select few family members qualify. You know, the ones that haven’t stabbed us in the back, stolen our money, or put spells on us. There are one or two, believe it or not.

I asked her if I could publish the recipe for the 2oceansvibe community and she, surprisingly, gave it the go-ahead.

And so, my sweet smelling friends, here it is..

Killer

Mother dearest’s Chrstmas Fruit Cake recipe

750 gms Mixed Fruit
250 gms Cherries
125 gms Dates
125 gms Walnuts
250 gms Butter
1.5 Cups Sugar
1 Cup Water
1.5 tsp Bi-Carb
1/4 tsp Salt

Boil together fruit, dates ,butter, sugar and bi-carb for 15 minutes
Cool then add 2 tots Brandy, 3 well beaten eggs, cherries and walnuts.

Add 3 cups flour, 2 tsp baking powder and 2 tsp mixed spice.
Bake at 150 degrees C for 1 hour then reduce to 120 degrees C for a further 2 hours.

(tsp = teaspoon )

Today brought a surprise courier package in the form of a huge pile of brand new Playstation 3 games, which included Guitar Hero III. My God, I nearly wet myself as I opened the package. It seems a local game distributor, Megarom , has picked up on the lunch time rock madness afternoon we had at M&J’s place a few weeks back. I’m just waiting for a second guitar and a PS3 console to arrive and God only knows what will go down.

It can’t be easy for her. I mean, I AM 17 days into growing my moustache for the month of Mo-vember. I ran into The Guru today, whose ‘tache (“Taj”, if you’re Indian) is also coming along very nicely, I must say. So much so that he noted, “I am not growing a moustache any more, I now have a moustache.”

Other than that I think we’re in for loads of fun in coming days and weeks – not least of which is the fact that I’ll be moving into The Cape Grace 5-star hotel for a week from Saturday. Gifts and trinkets can be delivered to the main desk from the 22nd to 29th of November. Lunatic angels will be restrained at the door.

Yes, that’s right. One of the World’s most famous and finest 5-star hotels have asked if I would like to make it my home for a week. I graciously accepted the invitation. With full spa available, yachts, pools, bars, restaurants and a chauffer carting me around, I’m sure I’ll be FAR more productive!

I trust the cutest little angels will be shifted on the main desk over that time.. And, er, Nigel, maybe a bottle of Veuve on ice in the room, to get us started?

A penchant for fine automobiles began at an early age.

Now, I know what you’re thinking, and it should be mentioned that I attended SACS from sub A to Standard 5. This will explain how I’m able to blend into a soiree in Bishopscourt on one evening, and a Tupac tribute block party in Obs the next.

The remix of her tune Be Without You (The “Moto Blanco remix”) has been around for a bit, but it has only now reached a head, within my head. I bought it on iTunes this week and must warn everyone at Virgin Active to move out of the way when I start playing it on the treadmill. At over eight minutes long, I’ll kill close to 2km by the time it’s over. I tell you, it’s too easy staying fit these days!

It’s good to change one’s look now and then – you know, to stay fresh and relevant. Like the time I was seen on the slopes throwing around the curly on top and short on the sides vibe, circa 1991. That was probably before Marco started doing my hair and my mom was still sending me to Linda of London at The Mount Nelson.

The latest installment of which proves, quite clearly, that Seth Rotherham was dealing with the weight of the world from an early age. We also note how naturally poise and refinement came to him.

Early Seth – exhausted!

The sheer bliss of a hot bath to calm one’s nerves is duly noted and remains a staple part of Seth’s life.

I had breakfast scheduled with G Man at Caprice for the Sunday, so The Muse and I indulged in some brekkie in the sun at Miss K in Green Point. Glorious.

It was just glorious!

Seth keeps it simple. Nothing sexy.

Any breakfast connoisseur will tell you the necessity of crispy bacon, and I am usually at pains to explain to waiters (I refuse to say “waitrons” – it makes me nauseous) its importance. Needless to say, Miss K’s bacon is served perfectly crispy, first time, every time; without even mentioning it.

I must say, it is quite an indulgence for me to dine at Miss K. The goodbye gifts of cheese cake and other naughties are one thing, but the lack of struggle to get an outside table, combined with the blatant flirtations at the hands of gorgeous 40-somethings (Roz and Lola being my highlight) makes it simply impossible to resist!

Naughty

The morning was topped off with the purchase of a newly pressed 25th anniversary double vinyl edition of Michael Jackson’s Thriller, at one of the “thrift” shops next door, forming my personal celebration of The Gloved One’s 50th birthday.

We strolled down to Giovanni’s to buy some deli ham, cheese, avo, sun-dried tomato and some of Knead’s bread. Oh, and I finally bought an espresso cup to compliment the new Bialetti Moka Express I got the other day. You can buy the actual Giovanni’s cups and saucers that Piero serves at the coffee counter.

Bizarrely, with all this movement in-and-out of various public places, the civilians were VERY well behaved. Not once did we encounter silliness or annoyances any sort. Well done, everyone involved!

The envelope was pushed with one more Saturday public treat, in the form of a read-through of the papers at Vida e in Camps Bay. The nice thing at Vida is you have the option of reading school projects (in the form of the leading national papers) OR you can read The Weekender , which they cleverly have on hand at all of their outlets.

A return to The Safe House allowed a full play through of Thriller, followed by a dip into the John Lennon box set.

No phone calls were had, as the Atlantic Ocean and skyline set the scene for the rest of the day as more than one bottle of DeGrendel Rose was opened.
