The celebration of freedom went down at the stunning Grand Cafe And Beach in Granger Bay on a sunny Friday afternoon. We can only imagine what 2012 has in store…

I’m not sure if you know this, but “Whiskey” is one part of the official aviation radio alphabet.

Ja, you best believe it.

Which is why on 7 October last month we treated our Friday Done Jack’s Way winner, Mark, and four of his friends to a helicopter flight from the V&A Waterfront to Constantia Uitsig’s La Colombe restaurant. There they enjoyed a sumptuous lunch, paired with three varieties of Jack Daniel’s Whiskey.

La Colombe also happens to be South Africa’s best restaurant. No spice.

On Friday 25 November, 100 lucky Capetonians will be treated to a fantastic lunch at the Grand Beach Cafe. Think the quintessential Grand Feast – an array of mouthwatering platters of linefish & tempura prawns, steak, pizzas and more – all enjoyed to the soulful sounds of Jack Mantis and the thirst-quenching pleasure of chilled Jack cocktails.

There will be 20 winners, allowed to bring four friends, each.

Last month, in the persistent spirit of defiance, 2oceansVibe and Jack Daniel’s took nearly 100 exhausted, hardworking Capetonians to the movies on a working Friday afternoon. Press play on that video and ask yourself why you weren’t there.

Work was bunked, whiskey was drunk, gourmet treats courtesy of Miss K were snaffled, and for the first time in many years, almost a hundred people rediscovered the freedom of a simple, innocent, guilty pleasure.

Caramel popcorn in one hand, and a glass of Gentleman Jack in the other, the afternoon was whiled away to the cinematic stylings of True Grit at the incredibly gorgeous Fugard Theatre.

So, you must be wondering, what on earth are we doing in September? Pay close attention, friends.

Once again, in an effort to abolish the working hours that we currently endure between noon and 17h00 on Friday afternoons, we’ll selecting large group of long-suffering office workers to enjoy a Harley ride around the coast. Courtesy of 2oceansVibe and Jack Daniel’s, you’ll be taking in some of Cape Town’s most gorgeous sites, before ending up at the Chapmans Peak hotel for lunch, and of course, whiskey.

This week’s Jack Friday competition was, despite the cold weather, a fiery contest. The quality of the tweeted entries is taking a sharply upward curve, so much so that this baby claimed the runner’s up place, courtesy of @PharSideUK. (Yes, entries are good enough to actually have a runner up!)

When we said that we were going to revolutionize the South African work place by lobbying for shorter (read: “nonexistent”) Friday working hours, we weren’t kidding around. Proof?
