Comprised of two farms, situated on opposite ends of the breathtaking Franschhoek Wine Valley, Haute Cabrière is something extraordinary. A rich history, a whimsical setting, a seductive approach to wine and a magnetic proprietor ensure that it is a decadent affair for any visitor. The core belief that wine is grown not made makes the farm’s ethos incredibly real and intrinsically human. Wine is more than what is in the bottle and it is considered an exceptionally intimate experience. This seductive conviction is intertwined with the farm’s ultimate philosophy that wine is bigger than one, it’s the combination of four factors: Sun, Soil, Vine, Man.
Following the tradition of the Champagne, our still wines are named after the property – Haute Cabrière – and our Méthode Cap Classiques are named after the original founder: Pierre Jourdan.
We’ve long heard tales of riches discovered at the bottom of the ocean but here’s one haul we would be happy to get our hands on. Bottoms up guys.

From the day I turn 70, I shall start every morning with a glass of bubble. Why not? It’s the most marvellous substance on earth and hundreds of years of drinking it has to be a good sign.

Bubbly, champers, buble, bubbles, sparkling wine, MCC – call it what you want – it is the mother’s milk for most women 18 and over and apparently we’re drinking it by the barrel.

As my life motto goes, ‘it doesn’t matter how full you are after a meal, there’s always room for ice cream!’. Here’s the real true vanilla ice cream recipe you’ve been waiting for.
There are still moments where I question people’s sanity when they say they haven’t heard of Uber. This post isn’t for them – it’s for people who want to ENHANCE their Uber vibe.. At my house we use Uber nearly every day – even for collecting food from restaurants that don’t do deliveries. During season time, […]

Sun and sport – it’s part of what makes up this beautiful country we live in. Here’s a wicked beach set to get you going this summer.

Everyone remembers their 21st birthday, right? No? It was probably because it was THAT big a party and this year the Bastille Festival is celebrating its 21st… Things are going be unmissable and wild!
All that wine-tasting and training is about to come in handy, as it’s been revealed that wine buyers are not getting exactly what they’ve paid for, with Italian police uncovering a massive wine fraud scandal, with cheap imitations in circulation that look and appear just like the real thing.
Please enjoy Elvis Presley making a mockery of his pure raw sexual awesomeness. Now imagine this happening in 1970 – in the days when this vibe had NEVER been seen or experienced before. Think about that.
Do you see what’s happening with the weather today? Take a look. Take one damned good look. It’s gone to hell in a handbasket, and there are only a few decent days left. A dozen real stunners, if we’re lucky. You have to make those guys count – in that spirit we’ve put together this […]
Pinot Noir – two words you’ve been hearing a lot, lately. The delicate grape has enjoyed some serious attention recently, and with the likes of Ard Matthews spouting these sorts of statements wherever he goes, we’re hardly surprised: “I’m convinced that Pinot Noir is one part heat-sensitive grape and 99 parts angel blood. It is the perfect blend between rosé and red, which means it can and must be drunk as often as possible, where possible, if possible.”
Brunch: it’s excellent. The combination of bubbly, soft poached eggs and hollandaise sauce is what is commonly referred to as “the holy trinity.” But some of you are doing it wrong, and you need to improve your lives.
Invariably, you’ll be invited to a friend’s house in the next three months for any number of reasons. It could be a birthday party, a job celebration, or an anniversary. Either way, it’s good manners to bring a gift, or a token of thanks. Heads up: everyone is going to be bringing flowers, or a bottle of red wine. You don’t want to be everyone, do you?
Having £1 million in the bank may be a dream for most, but when you’re the Queen of England that means you’re scraping the bottom of the barrel and eating moldy biscuits. But help is on the way, from the most unlikely of places. Can taking advice from Downton Abbey solve One’s dreary financial state?
Man… Where has this year gone? As 2014 slowly creeps upon us a good old friend called reflection kicks in, and hijacks our mind to think about the ups, downs and everything in between that occurred during 2013. Although it would be mind-blowingly impossible to summarize the year, the awesome filmmaker Jean-Louis Nguyen has done just that, creating a six minute video montage of the year’s most headline making moments.
