  • Zimbabwean Monopoly – A Game Of Too Many Players?

Do you remember the infamous now ex-Zimbabwean Finance Minister Christopher Kuruneri and his clever property purchases in Llandudno a while back? Well, now in a twist of fate, and getting out of jail free once, Kuruneri will finally make his next move on Thursday after Robert Mugabe played him into a cul-de-sac, and a submissive play in 2007.

This is turning out to be a really interesting game of monopoly between the two Zimbabweans. Games of monopoly sometimes take their time, especially when you are feeling out a new player for the first time. Strategy is everything. These two have been playing for ages now and both are extremely experienced. This is the real thing. However, Kuruneri has taken about three years to make his next move, and it’s a sign of submission I think.

He is putting up his Apostle Road residence for auction. It has been on the market since 2008 and players just kept on rolling past it. Currently speculation amongst players is that Kuruneri has put it up for auction in order to raise funds for the completion of his second Llandudno property a little further down monopoly mountain in Sunset Avenue. It’s a bit Mayfair-ish, but not really.

The Apostle Road property will be auctioned on site on Thursday at 12 ‘o’ clock sharp if you are interested in a piece of monopoly history. It’s number 17.

In other Zimbabwean monopoly news, the government has reportedly found, via audit, 75 000 “ghost workers” on the payroll. One fellow was even found to have been listed on nine different government department payrolls. No wonder there was such a high demand for government monopoly money in recent times.
