    Nadal Wins Top Honours At Laureus Awards – The Spanish armada triumphed at the Laureus World Sports Awards last night, with tennis superstar Rafael Nadal leading the charge. As some consolation for his quarter-final exit from the Australian Open, Nadal was named World Sportsman of the Year at a glitzy ceremony in the United Arab Emirates capital Abu Dhabi. And Spain’s World Cup winning footballers were named Team of the Year. An emotional Nadal described the award as the “most important award in world sport.” [theaustralian]

    ANC Chaplain Comes To Zuma’s Defence – The ruling party’s chaplain general has jumped to JZ’s defence. “We are taking a view that people are taking that statement out of context,” said Reverend Dr Vukile Mehana. “The president was using a figure of speech, he did not mean it in a literal sense,” he said. To recap, Zuma said: “When you vote for the ANC, you are also choosing to go to heaven.     Zim Finance Minister’s Llandudno Homes Goes On Auction – Two Llandudno homes believed to be worth millions of rands are to go on auction this week because the owner, former Zimbabwe Finance Minister, Christopher Kuruneri needs to raise money. Kuruneri was relieved of his cabinet and ministerial positions after it was revealed that he had spent millions buying the properties almost ten years ago.     Zuckerberg Gets Restraining Order Against Stalker – Mark Zuckerberg claims he’s being stalked by a man who’s been sending him creepy messages through Facebook and threatening his safety. Zuckerberg has obtained a restraining order against 31-year-old Pradeep Manukonda — after Mark filed legal papers claiming the guy has tried to “follow, surveil and contact Mr. Zuckerberg using language threatening his personal safety.” Law enforcement sources confirm Pradeep had gone to several Facebook offices in Palo Alto attempting to contact Mark to ask for money for his financially-strapped family.     Cockfighting Rooster Stabs And Kills Man – The tables were turned at a California cockfight after a man was fatally stabbed in the leg by a sharp blade attached to one of the fighting birds, The Bakersfield Californian reported. Jose Luis Ochoa, 35, was taken to a local hospital shortly after police responded to a reported cockfight last Sunday in Lamont, Calif., a town nine miles south-southeast of Bakersfield. An autopsy revealed Wednesday that Ochoa’s death was accidental and caused by an injury to his right calf.
