A further tornado outbreak yesterday has killed at least 210 people in Alabama, prompting President Barack Obama to sign a disaster declaration to assist the clean up of the aftermath of the twisters. Tornados have been ravaging the southern states of the USA for days now, and the death toll has risen to 300.
“In a matter of hours, these deadly tornadoes took mothers and fathers, sons and daughters, friends and neighbors, even entire communities,” Obama says.
Barack and first lady Michelle will visit the victims of the south today.
The disaster declaration will make federal funds available for housing repairs, temporary housing and loans to cover un-insured property losses.
