Gary Kirsten was announced as the Proteas cricket coach early this morning.
Kirsten led the Indian team to a ICB Cricket World Cup victory earlier in the year, and was hailed by players and administrators in that country as one of the greatest coaches ever to walk an Indian change room.
Kirsten replaces Corrie van Zyl, who was widely understood to be acting in a temporary capacity, following the sudden resignation of Mickey Arthur.
Kirsten, who has a twitter following of some 4 000 people, is yet to tweet a single word. As one twitter user, @ronak_bhatia quipped, “actions speak louder than words”.
