The 2011 Tour de France didn’t start very well for a number of competitors on Saturday, after an over-eager spectator leaned in too close, causing a massive pile-up that brought down dozens of competitors.
Astana cyclist Maxim Iglinsky was just about done with stage one of the tour when an over-eager spectator reached in too far and clipped him with her elbow. He then veered into, and brought down, an entire line of racers, including defending champion Alberto Contador, who lost almost a minute of time.
Be warned, this clip from the race has some pretty painful imagery.
