  • Dutch Gameshow Offers Asylum Seekers Money… To Go Back To Their Own Countries

    The contestants

A new game show in the Netherlands features contestants who are currently seeking asylum in the country. The format is that of a quiz show, and the prize is a not-too-shabby R40 000. The only problem is the winning contestant has to move back to his or her own country to go spend it. Nice one, Netherlands.

The host, his sexy air stewardess assistants, and the prize money.

The show is called Weg van Nederland and features five failed asylum seekers who have to answer questions about Dutch language, culture and history, Dutch entertainers and the royal family. The candidate who has absorbed the most information during his or her stay in the Netherlands gets R40 000 to be used to start a new life in his or her country of origin.

But the losers wont be going home empty-handed. They get consolation prizes, such as a bag of flower bulbs or a bulletproof vest.

The audience “sends off” an eliminated contestant.

No, seriously. I’m not making any of this up.
