Swedish designers have made a cycling helmet that isn’t totally obnoxious, which is pretty great. It won an award. Understand that no matter how nice this helmet is, it still isn’t okay to wear this guy indoors, because that’s rude. Still, it just won the Index:Award, the largest monetary prize for design in the world.
It’s called the “The Hövding”, because the designers are Swedish. It works like a waterproof collar that expands into an airbag helmet when you’re struck by a hefty force. Which is a great party trick that I can see going places.
The helmet’s won a couple of other awards, but the Index is worth €100,000 (about a cool million ZAR), so that seemed worth noticing.
