The La Fee Absinthe-Minded Moment Of The Week

We all have our lapses of judgment. But some of us make such horrendously poor decisions that one simply has to ask, “What were they on?”. Every week we bring you three contenders in what can only be described as a battle of small wits. So, with great pleasure we present this week’s three La Fee Absinthe-Minded Moment of the Week finalists. Inside we have the Darren Scott, Crazy Dutch Woman, and Robert McBride. But who claims the prize for the most mindbogglingly foolish tomfoolery of the week? Click through to find out!

Third place – Crazy Dutch Woman

It’s one thing to call your ex a few times in the hope that he or she might answer and things might turn out differently and be amicably resolved. Most times, this just doesn’t happen. Now, Dutch prosecutors are charging a 42-year-old woman with stalking after she allegedly called her ex-boyfriend 65 000 times in the past year. That’s about 178 times a day. The man denied they even had a relationship. Way too much absinthe lady, way too much.

Second place – Robert McBride

Former Ekurhuleni Metro Police chief, Robert McBride, has been described as “an evil person who has shown a disturbing arrogance and disregard for the law.” He was drunk behind the wheel after he crashed his state-owned vehicle after a Christmas party back in 2006 and now he has felt the full wrath of the law. Basically he claimed he was ‘medicated’ at the time and wasn’t even driving the car. No Judge Dredd “I am the law” here. Should have stayed away from the absinthe shots, Bob.

The winner – Darren Scott

From broadsheets to social media networks, Darren Scott has been just plain judged for dropping the K-Bomb on a colleague last weekend. In our best Naas Botha voice: “On the uther hand Darrin, this sorts of things are career ending moves, Darrin. Like a permanent injury, Darrin.” The incident supposedly took place in a bush pub at the Mabula Lodge near Bela-Bela, so absinthe must have been involved. Thanks Darren for directly increasing Arnold Geerdts’ TV time.
