Well this can only end well. As-yet-unidentified thieves temporarily made off with a truck containing $200 000 (ZAR 1,5 million) worth of sound equipment and podiums belonging to President Obama, while the goods were en route to Chesterfield, where Obama is due to speak. The geniuses also stole the Presidential Teleprompter.
The vehicle was later recovered near a Holiday Inn Express parking lot by the airport. No word on what, if anything, was stolen, because presumably somebody figured out that they’d stolen presidential goods and decided against Guantanamo.
Said the Defense Information Systems Agency in a statement:
No classified or sensitive information was in the vehicle. We take incidents such as this very seriously and a formal investigation is continuing.
