The ink has barely dried on Alan Knott-Craig’s deal to buy MXit, and already we’re seeing new developments in the user experience of South Africa’s biggest social network. You can now buy your favourite Estrela using nothing more than your MXit account.

The idea is really simple. Load up MXit Moola. Add the Vida you want to buy at as a contact. Generate a wiCode, and give this to the cashier. Easy as pie – you now have a delicious Latté, paid for by your MXit Moola. Pretty cool, isn’t it? Check the video at the top of this article for the full run-down on how it works.

The service is currently only in Beta testing stage, so the only Vida where you’ll be able to do this is the one in Stellenbosch (the same Vida that is right next to Knott-Craig’s office), but expect it to roll out country wide over the next few months.
