Bryanston school kids and their parents may still be recovering from the drama on show this morning outside Bryanston Parallel Medium Primary. The school was the scene of a police shoot-out at around 07h20.
The SAPS was alerted to a suspicious man sitting in the school’s parking lot in a black Subaru. When police approached the vehicle, the suspect pulled out a gun and fired it at the officers, who promptly engaged in a shoot-out as the Subaru fled, hitting another parked car on his hasty exit from the property.
Definitely some pretty extreme school parking lot behaviour for a Tuesday morning, but the man is suspected to be linked to what’s known as a “jamming gang” – part of a syndicate which uses jamming devices to de-activate alarms on parked cars so they’re easier to steal.
