Femen is a Ukrainian group of activists that has become popular in Europe for staging small, half-naked protests. Some of their members were arrested over the weekend after trying to break into an invitation-only gathering of international CEOs and political leaders held in the Swiss resort town of Davos. This venue is also used to stage the World Economic Forum annually.
Their goal this time around was to “call the VIPs’ attention to the needs of the world’s poor.”
You have to respect these ladies for the convictions of their beliefs. With temperatures around freezing in the snow-filled town, they took off their tops and tried to climb a fence before being detained. Slogans such as “Crisis! Made in Davos”, “Poor, because of you”, and “Gangsters party in Davos” were painted on their torsos.
