Dominique Strauss-Kahn, along with three other Frenchmen, have been accused of gang rape. Judges in charge of the investigation into a prostitution ring involving Dominique Strauss-Kahn now face two options: dismiss the new allegations, or bring charges of gang rape against them. It’s likely that the charges will stick.
Earlier this week, it was ruled that the hotel maid, Miss Nafissatou Diallo, who claims that Strauss-Kahn sexually assaulted her in a “violent and sadistic attack” in the Midtown Sofitel hotel, in New York, on May 14 2011, could bring a civil case against Strauss-Kahn.
In what was described as a last ditch attempt by Strauss-Kahn to have that case dismissed, Judge Douglas McKeon wrote that diplomatic immunity would only have applied if Mr Strauss-Kahn’s alleged indiscretion was performed in “his official capacity” – something Mr Strauss-Kahn accepts was not the case.
But now it looks as if things just got worse for the disgraced former director general of the International Monetary Fund.
Reuters has called the new application a “supplementary submission”, and it was filed on March 29 with the prosecutor, said a spokesperson, confirming a report that has since appeared in the newspaper, Liberation.
The new allegations are based on testimony www.health-canada-pharmacy.com/men-s-health.html from a prostitute who met DSK in Washington in December 2010, when he was still director of the IMF.
“The prosecutor is currently reviewing this request,” said a spokesperson. There are two options: dismissal, or the opening of a preliminary investigation, the spokesperson continued.
However, it would appear there would be no reason not to join these new allegations to the judicial inquiry already under way.
Strauss-Kahn has already been charged with “pimping” and operating a prostitution ring.
According to the new testimony, Strauss-Kahn would have imposed “brutal sexual intercourse” with this new young woman, and his friends, Jean-Christophe Lagarde, David Roquet, and Fabrice Paszkowski, assisted him.
The earlier charges are punishable by 20 years’ imprisonment after a possible trial in the Assize Court.
He has paid bail of 100 000 euros, and has requested the cancellation of these lawsuits, because he disputes the facts, explaining that he did not know that the women interviewed were prostitutes.
We’ve heard that one before, DSK.
His lawyers did not immediately respond to the request for supplemental submissions, and one of the lawyers, Henri Leclerc, said he wouldn’t comment before fully understanding the new allegations.
