PUMA has just launched a new campaign that asks you to recycle your unwanted clothes. It’s known as the “Bring Me Back” programme, and all you need to do is take your unwanted stuff – even non-PUMA stuff – to a PUMA retail location. However, if you’re attached to that special pair of pumps, PUMA encourages you to snap a picture, write an obituary, and share it online.
The Bring Me Back programme is about recycling and re-using material from unwanted items to create new products.
PUMA says this is about:
Reducing the amount of virgin material that would otherwise be used to make new products. With the Bring Me Back Programme, materials are put back in the right place. This way, we don’t steal from nature, but borrow. And borrowing is a good thing.
All you have to do is dispose of your unwanted items, which can include non-PUMA goods, in the Bring Back Bin at PUMA retail locations.
Here’s how it will work after you drop whatever it is off, in a bin:
[It will be] sorted and graded…according to over 400 criteria so that there’s no waste. Every item gets a new life, whether it is re-used, upcycled for industrial use, or recycled and turned into new raw materials to produce new products.
But, if you’re attached to a special pair of pumps, as does happen on occasion, PUMA says you can tell their story by sharing an image and telling the story:
Sad to say goodbye to your favorite pair of sneakers? We want your shoes’ obituary; your final goodbye before the shoes move onto their next life. So snap a picture, write a few parting words, and submit it..
